DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress due to misalignment, repetitive motion, and past injuries. David's work is based on Structural Integration, and Myofascial Release which are systems of soft tissue manipulation focussed on properly aligning the whole body. The work is usually quite slow, giving the ability to access the deeper layers of muscle more effectively. "You can never go too deep, just too fast".
CRANIOSACRAL WORK
Craniosacral Work is a gentle, hands-on approach that comes from Cranial Osteopathy. It focuses on evaluating and enhancing the craniosacral system, which includes the cranial bones, the sacrum, and the membranes and cerebral spinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal chord. The work is traditionally focussed on optimizing the position and fluid movement (the cranial wave).
It is commonly used to treat symptoms such as TMJ, headaches and neck pain,
and is known to induce a state of deep relaxation that brings about the body's inherent ability to heal itself.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Myofascial Release is a manual therapy technique that addresses restrictions in the muscles and fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. Gentle, sustained pressure is typically applied to restricted areas. Myofascial Release is used to help reduce chronic pain and muscle stiffness, and to treat conditions such as fibromyalgia and postural issues. The work is known to promote overall ease of mobility, enhance circulation, and reduce stress.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish Massage is a popular therapeutic technique designed to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and relieve muscle tension. The massage style combines long, gliding strokes, kneading motions, friction, and rhythmic tapping to target both superficial and deeper muscle layers. It can range from very gentle to rigorous, depending on the neeeds of the client. It is known to release tension, increase flexibility, improve circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, and reduce physical and mental fatigue.
SHIATSU
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). It is traditionally practiced with client fully clothed. Shiatsu aims to promote balance and well being by stimulating points along energy meridians in the body, as well as applying gentle stretching techniques. It is known to reduce pain, relieve stress, improve posture, and promote deep relaxation.
TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE
Thai massage is traditionally practiced on a mat on the floor, with the client fully clothed. It is very popular for it's stretching. However, it also includes work along energy lines and points in the muscles, similar to Shiatsu, Acupressure and Trigger Point Therapy. It also seeks to align the body by releasing any imbalances, as in Structural Integration. It is a wholistic form of bodywork based on traditional Thai medicine.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Sports Massage is a specialized form of massage therapy designed for athletes and highly active individuals. It combines Deep Tissue massage techniques and stretching to relieve muscle tension and enhance flexibility. Sports Massage is known to help prevent injuries, aid in recovery, and promote overall performance by increasing blood flow and reducing muscle soreness.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnancy. Using various techniques specifically developed for pregnancy, it can help release pain and discomfort that may be experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits can be profound, including the relief of joint pain, increased circulation, and improved breathing and relaxation.
A BLEND
During Most sessions, David uses a variety of different techniques. He has studied and practiced different modalities enough to see both the commonalities and the distinctions between them. He uses his knowledge and intuition, with the needs of each client to offer the best possible outcome of each session.
