Meet David Jacob, LMT

David began training in Massage Therapy in 1999 with Joanna Marshall in Cottonwood, Arizona. Joanna offered an excellent introduction to Bodywork with an apprentice type training.

He went on to study at Arizona School of Integrative Studies, http://asismassage.com. There, he completed an 800 hour course in Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2001. The course offered a solid foundation in Anatomy and Physiology and an excellent introduction to many modalities of Bodywork.

After completing massage school, David began studying Craniosacral Work with Hugh Milne of the Milne Institute, http://milneinstitute.com. The Milne Institute offers an in-depth, visionary training in Craniosacral Work, with a certification course which David completed in 2004.

David has worked in different Spas and has been in private practice since 2001. He has gained experience successfully treating clients with an extensive range of symptoms and simply helping people deeply relax and lead more full lives. He sees his success lying not only in his technical ability, but also in his ability to deeply connect to his clients, and views Massage Therapy as an integral part of every client’s whole process.

Besides Bodywork training, David has been practicing Yoga daily since 1993. Through yoga practice, he has gained a deeper understanding of how the body works and sees this as an invaluable help to massage therapy. David has also spent over 3 years in residential practice at San Francisco Zen Center, http://www.sfzc.org. He sees mindfulness as an essential aspect of effective Massage Therapy.

David has lived in Portland, OR since 2007. He has continued to study different modalities of bodywork, including Traditional Thai Massage at the Naga Center, http://nagacenter.orgVisceral Manipulation with the Barrall Institute, https://www.barralinstitute.com, and currently Myofascial Release with Advanced Trainings, https://advanced-trainings.com.

David continues to see clients at his home office in the Woodstock neighborhood in Southeast Portland. He is pleased to be a part of the Bodywork profession and is very grateful to every client who seeks his work.
